So I finally have a pair of in-line skates that I don't hate but I'm not savvy enough to navigate the streets of downtown with them, at least not yet.

Any suggestions on some nice level pavement with good scenery to skate?  Preferably something without a lot of sand and water, since cleaning bearings are a pain.

Goto greenlake. Lots of people exercising there, and if you want, there is even a spot with bunnies and ducks who hang out.

You might like the Sammamish River Trail if you're in the area.  It's similar to the Burke Gilman and not as heavily traveled.

Greenlake.

I would definitely AVOID going to Alki - although they have a lane devoted to bikes / blades, the street is very uneven, and I've known quite a few people (myself included) who have had serious injuries as a result.
